The exceedance table from a laboratory certificate, criterion cited

Laboratory certificate → DÉPASSEMENTS sheet (Québec register)

What you are seeing — the annual report needs every result compared to the criterion, the criterion cited, the exceedances listed first — and today that table is rebuilt by hand in Excel from every certificate.

The short answer

The sheet is one row per (sample · parameter): the printed result, its unit and detection limit, the register's thresholds, the state — DÉPASSE, QUESTION, sous — the columns exceeded, and the source of the criterion on the row. Exceedances first, then the questions, then the rest by sample and parameter. A censored value whose detection limit sits above the criterion is a question, never a pass and never a flag.

The yardstick is the laboratory's own flag. Bureau Veritas prints >A / A-B on its certificates; our reading is compared to it row by row. Measured on 7 witnesses: 2,235 results, 1,181 compared to the register (Québec — Guide d'intervention, Annexe 7 (eaux souterraines : consommation / résurgence)), 157 exceedances, 52 questions — and of 582 flags the laboratory printed, 582 reproduced (100 %). The check re-opens the sheet and recounts it from its cells; a head that does not equal its body fails the build.

The rest of the answer — 1 more point

Several certificates make one sheet: a project's deposits are read one by one and printed on ONE DÉPASSEMENTS sheet, each row naming its file. Measured: 2 documents → 802 rows, 53 exceedances, equal to the per-file counts summed. Nothing is interpolated between campaigns; a gap is a gap.

How it is graded

  1. Drop the certificate (PDF or the laboratory's xlsx export). The Recognition card names the laboratory, the samples, the parameters and the results it read.
  2. On the Values tab, choose the register — every row is graded once, on the door, by the same code that writes the sheet.
  3. Take the workbook. The first tab is DÉPASSEMENTS; the reason for each verdict is a comment on the result cell.
